WebCast: RoboEarth - Building a World-Wide-Web for Robots

As part of the European Robotics Week from November 28th - December 4th, 2011, RoboEarth organized a webcast as well as a series of interactive workshops to introduce RoboEarth and allow researchers around the world to create and detect their first 3D object models using RoboEarth.

Overall, more than 100 people followed the events. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Workshop prerequisites

  • Working ROS with RoboEarth stack installed
  • Marker template (object creation)
  • Kinect sensor (object creation and detection) or calibrated RGB webcam (object
    detection only)
  • Optional: If you would like two-way voice communication or two-way
    video, you will need either a working Google Plus account to join via
    Google Hangout, or a working Skype installation (at least Skype version
    5) to join via Skype Video chat. The software used to stream the webcast
    only allows to post written comments in a joint chat window.
